Hi,

As part of a study of the effect of college music downloading on album
sales, I need to find data on the number of albums sold annually to
college age consumers (age range 18-24 or something very close to that
17-23 or 18-23, etc.). I need the annual data to stretch as far back
as possible (say, the 1950?s or 1960?s---it needs to be at least to
the late 1960?s). As it is a study, I need the citation, and it needs
to be from a credible source.

Use this website as a starting off point if you?d like
(http://www.riaa.com/news/marketingdata/purchasing.asp); however, you
can see quickly why it is inappropriate. The age ranges are not
suited to college age consumers, and the data only goes back to 1989.
Also, I want the number of albums sold, not aggregate dollar amounts
sold.

To summarize, the number of albums sold to college-age consumers
annually since 1950. I'm somewhat flexible on the age and year ranges
(see above), but please do your best to find the data stretching back.

If you have any questions, please don?t hesitate to let me know, and
I?ll be happy to clarify. Thanks for all your help!
