Question ID: 719188
Looking for the cd, or whatever, that their song "National Anthem" appears on
My source for it's existence is the book "Lit Riffs", ed. Matthew
Miele, in which authors "cover" favorite songs, by writing a story
based on the song they have chosen. Jonathen Lethem covers/uses
National Anthem, and his little afterword at the end of his story
says, "Yo La Tengo{'s}...covers of other musicians -- in this case,
the prodigal songwriter Daniel Johnston... anyone whose heart isn't
broken by that song hasn't ever been in love." Again, the song being
Tengo's cover of "National Anthem".
So, my question is: what cd is this Yo La Tengo cover on?
It is not, BTW, the "Speeding Motorcycle" on "Genius + Love = Yo La
Tengo", also written by Johnston.

"National Anthem" is not the name of the song, it's the name of the
piece by Jonathan Lethem based on Yo La Tengo's cover of "Speeding
Motorcycle" - see the editorial review from School Library Journal

As for the version of "Speeding Motorcycle" with Yo La Tengo on vocals
(instead of the Daniel Johnston phoned in-vocals on "Genius + Love =
Yo La Tengo"), it can be found on their covers cd on alias records
entitled "Fakebook". You can listen to a clip here:
