I am looking for a software solution for backing up and restoring my
iTunes music library.
I realize I can do this within iTunes, but I want to see if there is a
software solution that will automate the process including
transferring the settings to keep my play lists, album covers, and
other settings. Would also be nice if it did incremental backups.
This backup solution is not to an iPod but to a DVD or hard drive. |

Thanks for the response. I?ve looked at this before, and it appears
to be made for copying iTunes to and from an iPod. All the software I
have found seems to be for use with an iPod.
I am looking to do this without an iPod.

Ah. I misunderstood. In your question you said that you did not want
to copy TO an iPod. I didn't realize that you don't want to copy FROM
an iPod. Are you wanting to copy your music library from one
computer's hard drive to another?

Sorry for any confusion.
I do not want to use an iPod at all.
I am backing up from a PC to PC and will use DVD?s as the storage /
transportation method.

Please take a look at Memeo AutoBackup:

I haven't used this myself (my backups are done through my network),
but a friend has spoken highly of this software. Let me know what you
think.

I do appreciate your assistance, but this software appears to be for
normal file backups.
In order to preserve the user options, play lists and such, I believe
a few additional steps are required. For example, the iTunes
preferences are stored in
Documents and Settings > Your Username > Application Data > Apple
Computer > iTunes > iTunes Plug-in >iTunes.pref
I Searched the memeo site for iTunes and the only reference is when
backing up to an iPod.
