I am going to be going to law school starting in the fall. I am trying to decide whether pursuing a masters degree in economics at the same time is worth the added time and extra work. I would like to know these things: 1) What kind of jobs does the added degree open up for me? 2) Is there a noticeable increase in starting salary with the added degree? Any other information would be very helpful. Thanks. |

When I went up to study Economics with a bit of Politics and Philosophy thrown in on the side, I considered studying for the Bar at the same time. I must confess I was influenced by a teacher whose son had done something similar. I found the basic course work fairly demanding, as I allocated about two days a week to it in between socializing and picking the brains of people doing other courses. I also find that it is a lot easier understanding basic concepts when they are explained to me over a pint of beer, by an enthusiast, or when I buy and read a 'practical' book on the subject. Life after University is a bit different - paper qualifications fade - but a canny understanding of the rudiments, and an ability to learn, keeps one's nose above water. Mostly I reckon, that the introductory term should be on a building site, where the students labour, but get a chance to work a JCB - it is very interesting getting ones hands on a large machine |

i think doing law and economics is a good option. economics is growing field and is becoming every important in day to day life. As trade between countries is opening and economics and law degree is good idea. economics might require a decent knowledge of mathematics, so please check up with the university and how comfortable you feel with mathematics. |
