I am a U.S. citizen, having lived in Japan for over 12 years. I am
currently undergoing a divorce and custody battle with my Japanese
wife, which has lasted over three years. Although I currently have
legal counsel in Japan, I would like a list of resources for legal
advice or counsel (including the names of lawyers or law firms, web
sites, printed publications, or organizations), who/which are
well-versed in U.S. judicial system and divorce/custody laws, and who
can understand how these laws apply to or affect foreigners living
abroad who are married to Japanese nationals.
I am already familiar with Children's Rights Council of Japan, but I
have had difficulty coming up with a list of other resources that meet
the criteria above. (In particular, a list of lawyers, organizations
or other information resources that focus specifically on providing
options and solutions for U.S. nationals who are undergoing divorce
and child custody issues with a Japanese national would be welcome.
Also, legal counsel within Japan would be even preferable, as Japan is
my home of residence.)
I am also quite aware of Japan's own legal perspective in regard to
child custody; but I would like to know what other information
resources and options are available to me as a U.S. citizen, so that I
can resolve this case one way or another and move on with my life. I
would sincerely appreciate your help.

I'd also like to add that I'm not interested in online forums or
bulletin boards to "share views" regarding this topic. This is
a sensitive, personal issue, one with legal ramifications for
myself and for my family, so I am more interested in legal advice
and a list of authoritative resources that can give me some better
information and counsel from which I can better make any further
decisions. Thanks.
