Where can I find a picture or video of a US Savings Bonds public
service ad from the 1950s that featured an animated bird called The
Squander Bird? This was a cartoon ad on television I remember from my
childhood. I would like to find a video but would be happy with a
still image. Any other information on this ad would be great. Thanks.

You possibly mean the Squander Bug, which was used in campaigns in
both Britain and the US, aimed at getting people to economise, and
save money, during WW2. Here are some images -

I was born in 1952, and remember asking my mom while watching TV,"What
is a Squander Bird?" and her saying something to the effect that "it
was spending too much money". From googling it I now know about the
Saving's Bonds connection. I don't know what year that was but it's
funny the things you remember. I'd like to see it again, too.

Thanks to both of you for the comments.

The cartoon in question was definitely not a bug--it was a squawking bird.
