I am looking for the total # of high school baseball partipants in 2006 (or 2005)?
Also, please include softball if possible as well. ($2 tip)

I also meant to include # of baseball teams (or at least # of
participating schools).  Ultimately, the # of participants is what I
need, but I would be interested in # of teams simply for comparison.

Thank you for requesting me again for this question. You?re in luck
that my husband is such a baseball fan since I can ask him about some
of these things. The National Federation of State High School
Associations (NFHS) conducts participation surveys annually for a
large number of high school sports. I was able to find their most
recent data, which is for the 2004-2005 school year. The 2005-2006
school year data should be available on their site around September of
this year. There is a nice drop-down menu on their site that lets you
search for the information you need going back as far as the 1969-1970
school year for some sports.
