Question ID: 719709
I have problems when I want restart the system after a standby mode (suspend mode)
My BIOS is managing several options (S1 (POS Only), S3 and AUTO. And
I have this problem whatever the option is.
The system is resuming immediately (1 or 2 second) after I press the
resume button.
On restart, the system is also wake up immediately in 1 or 2 second,
The desktop screen is displaying normally:
- The mouse is active
- The network icon indicate that there is no connection available

As soon, I launch any application, the system freeze

I have already made the following test without success:
Disables the network connection nor disables the antivirus

Configuration:
Motherboard: ASUS P5AD2 Premium (bios up to date, release 1010)
NVIDIA 6800
XP PRO up to date with SP2
Norton Internet security

i have done additional tests :

Dumppo exe give me the following informations
Power button present : Thrue
Sleep button present : False
Lid present : False
System states suported : S1 S4 S5

Bios parameters :
Test 1 : On resume with option S1, the system hibernate but the
ventilator remain active, on wake up, i still have the same problem
(mouse & keyboard active, system freeze)

Test 2 : On resume with option S3, the system hibernate, the
ventilator is innactive, on wake up still the same problem (mouse &
keyboard active, system freeze)

the standby mode that i want is the standby with the power loss. this
standby seams to be the S4. My motherboard give me 3 options S1, S3 &
auto

I therefore conclude that my motherboard does not support
this status ?

thank for your comments

I have made an error on my last comment.

the dumppo informations are linked with the bios parameters. i
reexecute Dummpo with S3 in the bios status and now the DUMMPO exe
give me these availables status

System states suported : S3 S4 S5

SO MY MOTHERBOARD CAN support the standby function : GREAT !!
but how ?
thank you
