I'd suggest that you learn as much as possible on your own. The Comptia exams are a good starting point; especially if you are studying on your own. They don't expire; they provide a good base for the others; and in the case of the Network+ and Security+; they also may count towards some of the MCSA/MCSE certs. Locally; the courses for the A+ / Network+ / Security+ are about $2000CDN for a week of study; with some effort and $100 - $200 worth of books you can easily learn this on your own if you are motivated. On the other hand; if you are looking for something more specific; you may want to just go straight to the Microsoft of Novell certs. From what I understand; the Cisco ones are quite difficult. (Disclosure; I have not yet written any Microsoft exams). Also note that for a limited time; you can get a free 'second chance' at the Microsoft exams; meaning if you write one and fail; your second attempt is free: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/offers/2ndchance/ Hope this helps! |
