I am writing this in order to seek potential entrepreneurial opportunities for young and dynamic engineers. We are group of ten graduate engineers specializing mainly in Computer Science, Chemical & Electrical Engineering fields and with average professional working experience of 2 years. Please avoid giving answers such as get experienced in your field. How can all ten engineers work together to start our own business? |

I think you need to start looking for problems, that you can solve, then work your way backward to a solution that everyone can contribute to. By adding the multiple disciplines, and requireing each to participate, you're narrowing your possabilities - i'm sure you figured out that part... A thought though... the personal fittness market seems to use each of those disciplines. Exercise equipment, and fitness concoctions (vitimins, formulas, etc) would all require that group of knowledge... just a thought. good luck. |

With 10 engineers you have a chance. Are you all from the same Graduate program? Are you all from the same Frat house or program? Are you all same sex race age etc? Have you worked together to accomplih anything stressful? I would vote for more diverse the better, But that's just me. The group I knew who did this got spun off of a major electronics firm. (Starts with an "M") AN ANSWER TO YOur question. Generate Ideas , Rank them, Sell them. Take all ten "graduated inginears" to a quite place with tables. Give everyone a sheet of paper and pencils. Sit in a relaxed circle. Everyone writes down ten ideas. (good bad indifferent practical fanciful) Pass the paper one person over. Add something to each idea. Vote on the ideas, using some sort of proirity system Say each person gets 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 votes for any idea in any list. You now have several hundred ideas, in some proirity order. If you can make a sale, you have a business. If you can not make a sale, you have a interesting club. Good luck. |

First of all, thanks for your quick response to our question. To answer will_h-ga: Basic goal is to earn money but we need something exiting to start, instead of working for someone from 8-5! We are looking for something long-term project. Everyone is open to opportunities where their knowledge and skill will be useful. About the how much money we can invest, we have to discuss. redfoxjumps-ga All 10 have MS degree from US Nope, we are all from different program. 70% M,30% F, same race and 28 years average We know each other personally either from childhood or undergrad. I admire your passion to avoid death by corporate suffocation. My best advice to you is for each of you to order a copy of The Startup Company Bible for Entrepreneurs (M. Stathis). It will definately help you master the skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur. It is at times technical but easy to understand and not so technical like a textbook--its practical. And it is written for high tech entrepreneurs. |
