Has anyone managed to get an existing xp professional to dual boot with vmware. I installed a new xp kernel without ACPI using the /KERNEL=VMOSKRNL.EXE /HAL=VMHAL.DLL fix but this crashes too saying I need to run checkdisk and scan for viruses. When I try to run in safe mode it outputs disk/driver info but just hangs. I can still boot the old disk stand alone and it has a current virus checker and there are no checkdisk errors. Here is a screen shot http://www.hmh.net/error.jpg I did what VMware required of me to do to make this whole thing work with switching the HAL.DLL as stated on VM's website. Using RAW disk virtual machines with ACPI features : http://www.vmware.com/support/kb/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=FTx73Oqg&p_lva=&p_faqid=33&p_created=1020960264&p_sp=cF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTEzJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9L0tFUk5FTD1WTU9TS1JOTC5FWEUgJnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9MyZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMT0xJnBfcHJvZF9sdmwyPX5hbnl_JnBfY2F0X2x2bDE9fmFueX4mcF9jYXRfbHZsMj1_YW55fiZwX3NvcnRfYnk9ZGZsdCZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li= |
