Unwanted tan Does anyone know of something that can remove a tan? I don't mean a spray tan or lotion, I mean an actual tan from the sun. My tan never seems to fade and I would like to regain my original complection. All comments are welcomed. Does |

A suntan is produced by a skin pigment called melanin, which is manufactured by a special type of skin cell called a melanocyte. Melanocytes are located in the epidermis, which is the outermost layer of the skin. When the skin is exposed to UV (ultraviolet) radiation from the sun the melanocytes are stimulated to produce melanin, which migrates to the surface and darkens the skin. http://www.irishhealth.com/index.html?level=4&id=4066 You can't remove a suntan, without removing your skin. You can, however, stop the process by diligently using sunscreen or providing a barrier anytime you are exposed to the sun's rays. |
