Hi jrfk-ga!

Could you please clarify what you mean by "leads?" Leads to what, for
example (discussion groups, practitioners, resources, etc.)? Thank
you!

Sincerely,
Boquinha-ga

Hello jrfk-ga!

I am one who much prefers natural remedies to chemical drugs whenever
possible, so I respect your quest for websites that have such
information. Many of them are, of course, compiled by people with an
interest in alternative medicine and most are not endorsed by any sort
of official governing body of medicine (thankfully, some might say). I
have put together a list of websites with such information and have
tried to garner sites that are, as you say, responsible, though that
is a bit subjective, especially with the topic at hand. I look for
sites that have appropriate disclaimers and sites that are
comprehensive in their scope. I also look for sites that are
interesting and appealing in their presentation. I have tried to put
together a list of resources for you that includes a variety of
information including informative articles, products, collections of
remedies, and so forth. I hope you find these sites useful and
interesting!

The Natural Remedies Encyclopedia
http://www.pathlights.com/nr_encyclopedia/

This site has a disclaimer explaining that it is not compiled by a
doctor or scientist, but is ?a distillation of a large quantity of
old-fashioned folk remedies, plus modern nutritional information.? It
goes on to encourage users to talk with a health professional about
the information found on the site.

The site contains a number of natural remedies and the information is
organized topically. Each topic then has an index and is full of
information available in frames. Please be aware that the site is
heavily Christian in nature.

Native Remedies
http://www.nativeremedies.com/

This site is subtitled ?The Psychologist?s Natural Choice? and also
contains an appropriate disclaimer. The ?about us? page is very
informative. The site is endorsed by their ?resident Clinical
Psychologist,? Michele Carelse. The site includes articles and
products geared toward adults, children, and even pets! The site also
includes testimonials of clients who have tried their products. There
is a fairly comprehensive topical list of health issues and they also
offer online counseling as well.

Herbal Remedies Internet Reference Guide
http://www.all-natural.com/herbguid.html

If you?re interested at all in herbal remedies, this page is a simple
guide that defines and explains each herb. They are listed
alphabetically.

Childbirth.org
http://www.childbirth.org/articles/remedy.html

Here?s a site that?s good for those who are expecting. It?s not the
prettiest site I?ve ever seen, but it?s got helpful information on
some common symptoms for those who are expecting. The site?s subtitle
says, ?Birth is a natural process, not a medical procedure.?

Natural Remedies for Depression
http://exchange.healthwell.com/nutritionsciencenews/NSN_backs/feb_99/depression.cfm?path=ex

This page specifically addresses the topic of depression. It is a well
done and thorough article on natural treatments for depression. It
clearly explains each subtopic and addresses various aspects of
treatment. The site appears to have a bias as it is run by an
organization (New Hope.com) that holds natural products expos, but the
site has a lot of links to articles and useful information on the
topic of natural remedies.

The International Home Remedies Project
http://www.otan.us/webfarm/emailproject/rem.htm

This site is definitely to be used ?at your own risk? as the
disclaimer states, but I have to admit that this is one of my personal
favorite sites on this topic. I consult it for my family and myself
and thoroughly enjoy learning the different cultural aspects of
natural healing. All of the suggestions are suggested by ESL students,
so sometimes the English isn?t perfect, but the ideas are great and so
many are submitted that you can often tell which ones are quite common
in different countries simply because of the abundance of posts or
responses on that particular topic. Some of these are also very
humorous! I have personally used some of the suggestions (I?m not
telling which ones ;)) with success. But remember, the information
that we post here is not to be viewed as any kind of endorsement or
substitute for your seeking personal, professional medical attention.

Home Remedies and Holistic Cures
http://www.webterrace.com/home/home.htm

Beware?this site has annoying pop up ads. This is another simple site
of common home remedy advice and is divided alphabetically. It is not
as good or thorough as other sites I have listed here.

Otherhealth.com
http://www.otherhealth.com/

This site is a discussion forum for those interested in holistic health.

My Home Remedies
http://www.myhomeremedies.com/

This site states, ?Explore the world of home remedies and alternative
health!? The site opens with a warning?? This home remedies site is
intended to be archival in nature. The natural remedies here are
submitted by numerous people from around the world, and we have no way
to test or verify every remedy. As such these home remedies should be
used for academic purposes only. Never use any home remedy or other
self treatment without being advised to do so by a physician.? The
middle column is flanked by ads on either side, but the site itself
offers a wealth of information on many, many health topics! Scroll
down to the bottom for the pull down menu of alphabetical home remedy
topics.

To be balanced, I?m also including an article by the AAFP (American
Academy of Family Physicians) that talks about the possible negative
side effects of some herbs and natural treatments.
http://www.aafp.org/afp/990301ap/1239.html

Of course, there is a flip side. Many argue that the much touted ?FDA
approval? and acceptance in the medical community or by big
pharmaceutical companies is fraught with ethical and financial
concerns?too many hands in too many cookie jars, so to speak.

I hope you find the sites useful, informational, and interesting! I
know that I do. Please let me know if you have need of any further
clarification.

Sincerely,
Boquinha-ga

Thank you boquinha-ga you are good. This is the first time I have
ever used google answers and I was not sure how to ask my question.
"Leads" refer to sites that post individuals that are looking to
purchase or become a member of an organization that deals with natural
remedies. There are many sites on the Internet that will take you to
"leads" as they call them, but who knows if they are reputable or just
want to take your money. That is where I was hoping google answers
might be able to help me. Thanks again
