Dear hayman100-ga,

The University of Austin, Texas, has a site on Equine Law and Horsemanship Safety.
This page links to summaries of news articles concerning horse
incidents 2002 - 2004.

Click on the links at the bottom part of the page, ?Horse Accidents with Injuries.?
In each summary you most likely need the section ?Injuries While on
the Ground? or ?Accidents While Ground Handling?.
Here is a sample from the many which are available. Each piece of news
is fully attributed, therefore, further research will lead you to the
original source of the news and perhaps more information:
?The Express in the United Kingdom reported on April 30 2003 that
Mandy Marx, 49, a horse breeder, lay dead in a barn for two days after
apparently being trampled by one of her thoroughbreds.  She had three
broken ribs and internal injuries consistent with being kicked by a
horse.  A coroner reported an open verdict because she could also have
suffered from a heart problem which may have contributed to her death.
The Press in New Zealand reported on May 3, 2003 that a 30-year-old
Danny Campbell, a harness racing driving champion, was killed when a
yearling in his stable kicked him just above the heart.  The horse was
about to be long-reined and was wearing hopples.?

?The Times of India reported on June 27, 2002 that the horse being
ridden by a bridegroom in a marriage procession ran amok crushing one
person to death.  The unruly horse created chaos as others in the
procession ran helter-skelter.  The horse finally came to a halt, but
not before killing Mohan Rao Karu, 59.?

?The Daily Mail in the United Kingdom reported on December 11, 2002
that nine-year-old Rachael Foster died after being kicked by a horse
as she was out riding with friends.  The group had stopped to rest
with a horse started fighting with the pony on which she was mounted.
She dismounted to separate the two but was kicked twice by the horse.
The first blow knocked her to the ground and the second caught the
back of her head beneath the rim of her helmet.  She received serious
head injuries and died the next day.?
