2. what is average length and cost of car rental in spain?
3. what is the size of the car rental market in spain?
4. on average, how many days a year is the average hire car actually

<Car rental ? Spain.

Car rental market.

Car rental sales are expected to reach a value of EUR1,052 million in
2004, up by 5% in current value terms on the previous year. Growth
rates were stable in recent years. However, further scope for growth
is limited due to emergence of low-cost-online car rentals in leisure
and a reduction in growth in the number of tourists visiting Spain.

According to the Central Directory of Companies there are 2,434 car
rental companies in Spain. 173 operate in the province of Malaga. The
report contains a breakdown of the number of companies per village.

Average sales in 2002 were Euro 1,008,944.10.
Billing per vehicle is Euro 4,792.46
There are an estimated 43,500 rental cars in Malaga.

3.7% of tourist rent a car.
80% of car rental companies have a website.
22.7% offer online reservations.
Cars are rented for, on average, 240 days per year.
Tourists stay for an average of 12 days.
Source : Costa Del Sol Tourist Board.

From the figures given in the report it is possible to calculate the
average rental time.

915,780 vehicles containing three passengers = 27447340 or 32.7% of visitor numbers
100 percent of visitor numbers = 27447340 x 100/32.7 = 8401651
Number of visitors renting a car = 8401651 x 3.7% = 310861
Number of rental days = 43,500 x 240 = 1044000
Average days rented = 1044000/310861 = 3.36
