I recall reading a news article or op-ed piece, probably between 1994 and 2000. At the time, I frequently read the Los Angeles Times and New York Times online, but may also have read from Time, Newsweek or US News and World Report. The piece described an incident in an African country suffering from famine. A man came to a relief station of some kind with his family. He had carried his wife and child to get there. They were unable to walk, and so he carried one for some distance, put her down, then walked back and carried the other. I was very moved by this description, and would like to have the text of the article, along with bibliographic information for citation. If the article is still available on the Internet, a URL would also be welcome. |

I asked a similar question recently trying to find an article I'd seen only a few months previously, and had no luck. It seems your question is a much larger challenge. |
