Any font you use for the text on your site has to be installed on the visitors computer. If you would to display a non-standard font (large and fancy). Find a free font that you like, install it on your machine and use a graphics program to produce an image. As you browse around you may notice this technique used on most sites. (For example go to the Yahoo home page. There logo is just the word in a unique font and they use an image. Ditto for Google but Google usualy has other graphical elements so its not as good an example. Free fonts site that I use: http://www.1001freefonts.com/ To install the downloaded font simply drag it to your windows 'fonts' directory. Most graphics packages will have a tool for typing text into the image. Simply select the font you installed and type. Save it as a gif or png and include it in your site as an image. There are other options but they all include the users being prompted to confirming a new font be downloaded to their computer. With security and privacy issues being what they are you probably don't want to create a psychological barrier to people using your site. Does that answer your question? |
