This question has to do with Toyota Landcruisers.

I like the Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 especially from the 70's and early
80's. However, I wanted to get a diesel engine for a variety of
reasons - I know that
Toyota made FJ40 diesels for sale outside the US during this time
- can you tell me the feasibility of putting a diesel engine from one
of these models into an FJ40 (originally gasoline) from these years?

Can I buy a diesel engine from Toyota? What would the cost be like for
the engine and installation? What about emission control issues (I
live in California)?

Advice appreciated!

Tom
