Question ID: 721933
Some time ago I bought an aftermarket cable to connect my PC(a pretty
ordinary windows xp clone) to my mobile phone. A software package to
mange the mobile was part of the package. The installation of the
software failed and I was never able to download anything from my
mobile. I can live with that; but unfortunately every time I reboot a
blue bordered popup box from the system appears. It says
 "nokia PC Suite 5.8
The feature you are trtying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder
containing the installation package"Nokia PC Suite 5.8 msi" in the box
below.

At the bottom of the box is a browse box. On the side is OK and Cancel buttons.
Nowhere in my system or the installation disk is there anything
labled Nokia PC Suite 5.8 msi. So the browse box is of no use. If I
press OK or Cancel the thing does a few tricks and displays the same
popup box again. I can temporarily get rid of it by zapping it with
the windows task manager but doing that each time I boot the computer
gives me the irits.
I can not find anything I recognise in the add/remove programs box.
Can someone tell me how to get rid of the annoying thing(I do not want
the mobile connection stuff to work)
Cheers Bob

Hi all, I am trying harvey_wallbanger-ga's solution. I did as he
suggested but the installation stopped on an error message
"error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6\BkMrk.dll failed to
register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel"
cheers Bob

Download and install Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel from
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

This adds an applet to your Control Panel that shows you everything
that Windows runs at startup, and allows you disable or delete things
that you don't want any more.

Hi bob
I suppose u would have cancelled the installation of software
inbetween which is not rolled back properly..!!

To get rid of it...!
1. Go to the Programfiles directory and delete the directory in which
you are trying to install earlier.
2. Go to Start->Run and type regedit. Now search for keys "Nokia" and
delete the entries one by one

Now restart ur PC...!
I think this should solve ur problem..!

Thanks
lee

A couple of things you can do

a. check if your phone needs a DKU 5 DKU 2 CA42 or CA53 cable

b. download the latest version of pc suite suitable for your
phone(http://www.nokiausa.com/support/software/main)

c. disconnect any usb devices to your pc before installing (with the
exception of mouse and keyboard)

d. install the software but do not allow it to connect to anything

e. install the cable driver (if not installed by the installer) this
only goes for the DKU 5

f. reboot

g. run PC suite and now go to the connect sequence

h. connect your phone when asked

i. check if all connectivity works , and while your phone is attached
reconnect all other usb devices if any

On installation of 6.8 it will ask to remove older versions , say yes to this
also make sure you are logged in as administrator or have
administrator rights to your machine , superuser will not work
