Is it legal to start an internet company/site, that allows users to
bet on oponents playing a game online. Lets say two people were
playing an online game like chess, and you as a webmaster supply a
service that allows users of your site to bet on who is going to win.
Is this legal in California, or in th US?

It might br legal in Nevada. They have the big sports betting set ups there.

Does not sound like something you could get a lot of folks to bet on.
Just smells like it would be easy to rig or past post.

People like to bet on things that smell, taste, vibrate and have
crowds.  Can not do that easily on the Internet.
