I am looking for recommendations for a compact fixed lens digital camera. I plan to use it for both general photography and simple amateur astronomy use (mostly with a small 60 mm refractor and the afocal method). Here are my requirements, in no particular order: 1) fixed lens, i.e. no reflex 2) not out of production 3) list price below 400 EUR 4) 5/6-megapixel or more 5) support for USB storage, i.e. the possibility of accessing the camera as an external USB disk for image transfer to a PC 6) support for SD or CF II memory cards 7) self-timer and/or remote shutter operation 8) availability of a raw image format, or a lossless image format such as TIFF 9) availability of manual settings, at least for exposure time 10) maximum manual exposure time of at least 5-10 seconds I consider my question answered if I get at least 2 camera recommendations that match ALL the above requirements. By recommendation I mean that I am provided with: 1) manufacturer name and complete camera model name 2) a link to the manufacturer's web site with full technical specifications of the recommended model |
