Question ID: 722401
Given the options C & C++, which is the best. C has a very long
history and stable. Where as C++ still to have any standards (such as
C or Java) is still not mature as C programming language as such. C++
is OO where is C is not. I am in a confused state whether to choose
C/C++ for a reasonably medium to a very large project work. Please
help.

Hello Rkalyankumar,

Can you explain what kind of application are you writing for the
"large project work"? The best answer will be based on that (and other
factor such as experience of staff, etc.).

There are many reasons to pick one language over another - for
example, for operating systems and databases I answered a similar
question at
  http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=718661
which indicates why C is [tends to be] used over C++ for those kinds
of applications.

My project should be fairly RDBMS or a ODBMS system which would run on LINUX system.

As per my previous update, the project will be a RDBMS application
(client-server), multiuser support. It will be developed by me. I know
C & C++ both. But confused to chose between two.

Kalyan
