How do I find out the results of California state inspections of
independent and assisted living centers? Is there a central place
where complaints of independent and assisted living centers in
California are registered and are these comments/complaints open to
the publice? Is there a way to find out whether or not independent
and assisted living centers have been involved in lawsuits?

Hello scallan-ga,

My research shows that finding the information you seek will be
difficult and time consuming. There is no centralized record of the
state inspections of independent and assisted living centers. There is
no central place where complaints are collected and made available to
the public. Finding out whether a facility has been involved in a
lawsuit may be possible but may require using a variety of databases.

As you can see, the consumer is at a disadvantage when trying to get
comprehensive information about independent and assisted living
centers. I?m providing you with a few links to help you get oriented.
After reviewing these materials please clarify what information will
constitute a satisfactory answer to your question.

I look forward to your clarification.

Have you checked with AARP or the California Association of Assisted
Living Centers or any other organizations that serve the senior
community to find out if they compile this information? Have you
reviewed any state regulations or checked with assisted living centers
to find out under what circumstances their inspections records need to
be released?
