I have 3 PC's on a Mexican version of DSL. I do send out quite a few
emails and have a web site with 7,000 visitors this year. I am
probably rather naive.

What are the 3 best recommendations for me for "firewall protection"
-- price and reasons, ratings.

Does your web site server run on your computer or on a separate dedicated server?

Well, I don't know about the best, but I use Tiny Personal Firewall,
which is a free download from sites such as slaughterhouse.com

But do you actually mean a firewall, or a virus screener?

I mean a firewall to protect me from hackers.

I am doing all the anti-virus stuff.

I gotta get protected from being invaded. don't you think?

Running Windows? ZoneAlarm, from Zone Labs, often shows up at the top
of the list of software firewall applications (sorted by
effectiveness), and its basic version is free for individual and
non-profit users. There are fancier versions called ZoneAlarm Pro and
ZoneAlarm Plus that cost money. See http://www.zonelabs.com/ ... Here
is a review to look at:

Thanks so much! Your comments were most helpful. I am trying a free
30-day
firewall software. This is giving a feel if I want to and need to
purchase
such a software or not.

I suppose I will not really wish that I had bought a FireWall Software
until some hacked gets in and messes things up. Right?

Blessings.

I am trial using a software for firewall. It lists that I have blocked
so many intents. What I don't get is who are these people or automated
programs?

Is it really "dangerous" to me that someone might get into my PC and
mess up my system or why do I really (if I really do) need a firewall?

I did not get a comment on my last comment.

Do I really need a firewall protection?

highroute-ga
You did me a great service with just your comment. If you would put
the same thing in an answer, I would give you a 5-star.

I mean what better way to find out about firewalls than to try
one?!?!?

Sorry I have taken so long to get with you. I tried the ZoneAlarm for
a month and then that question went under the pile of other questions.

Thanks so much highroute-ga
