Who owned the drilling rig that the 1998 movie Armageddon was filmed on? ...and i don't mean 'Stamper Oil' as was on the hardhat in the movie itself; I'm looking for the actual/real-world owner/operator. |

Dear danny2006-ga; Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question. The actual offshore oil rig used in the filming of the 1998 movie Armageddon was called the ?Garden Banks Oil Rig? and is located some 200 miles off the Gulf Coast of Texas. It was owned (at that time) by EEX Corporation, which has since been acquired by Newfield Exploration Company, based in Houston, Texas. ARMAGEDDON PRODUCTION NOTES http://www.michaelbay.com/articles/armageddonpronotes.html The following blurb is seen listed among the movie?s credits: GLOBAL MARINE DRILLING COMPANY Jon Marshall and Bob Shoalmire EEX CORPORATION David Henderson, Andy Scott, Mickey Shaw, Chris Roller and The Crew of the GARDEN BANKS TOUCHSTONE PICTURES ARMAGEDDON MOVIE CREDITS http://www.movie-page.com/1998/armageddon/credits.txt I hope you find that my answer exceeds your expectations.
