Question ID: 722654
I've recently had fraudulant activity on my debit card account. On my
bank statement today was 2 transactions with which I presume is a
company name "Deniz Feneri Yar Day Der". Can you tell me what this
means (If It's a company/website etc) and what language and/or country
It's In?

I'm just trying to find out whoever has my card details has been
spending my money on.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hello Wendytcake,

The language is Turkish and Deniz Feneri means light house.

Do you think the Deniz Feneri Association (Turkish NGO) could be the
website you're looking for?
http://www.denizfeneri.com.tr/icerik.asp?icerik=ANASAYFA

Thanks,
Bobbie7

Hello bobbie_7,

Thanks for helping me.

I do not understand any foreign languages so It's hard for me to read
the website. Is there anyway of entering card details on that link you
gave me?

I think "Deniz Feneri Yar Day Der" Is maybe linked to gambling as the
rest of the fraudulant transactions on my card are online gambling or
online payment (aquapay, neteller, betfair).

On my bank statement two payments were taken from my account by Deniz
Feneri Yar Day Der:

Deniz Feneri Yar Day Der £2.19
TR 05.00

Deniz Feneri Yar Day Der £4.37
Tr 10.00

Along with these monies being taken from my account I have overseas
transaction fees so I knew It was not In the UK.

Does this make sense?

Yes, it is definitely Turkish, and the charges are related to that
organization. One can click on English at the upper left on the site
and see that it is an aid organization. It looks authentic and
reputable, and only modest amounts have been charged your account, but
the doubling of the amount - if that is the chronological order -
does look suspicious.

I found site that is related: kurban.denizfeneri.org.tr
which has the name: "Deniz Feneri Yardimlasma ve Dayanisma Dernegi"

That looks like the full form of what was abbreviated on your
statement and is the extension of the name that appears when I click
my open firefox links.

My pocket dictionary suggests that the name could mean: Lighthouse
Help/Assistance and Solidarity Association.

Note the credit card reference on the site. I suggest that you talk
to your card company about its rejecting any future charges from this
source.
