Hi All,

I work as a consultant & I'm after some time tracking software with
the following features:
- PC not web or PDA based (by web I mean that the database is on my PC not the web)
- Nice easy to use GUI
- Ability to track a number of people (so each person has a copy on
their PC & the results are combined into the one database - though the
net)
- Cost tracking feature
- Ability to enter job, client & notes with each activity
- Reporting capabilities including project summary (time & cost)
- Reporting capabilities including graphical summaries (pie/bar charts)
- Reasonable cost per seat (we're a start-up so all up under a few
hundred dollars for three people)

To give you a better idea of what I'm after: I have been trialling a
piece of software called JobCapture from CaptureWorks (200 USD) and
this is EXACTLY what I'm after EXCEPT for one thing; it doesn't
perform any graphical summaries.

I'm happy for you to just suggest a piece of software & I'll try it,
if it fits then this is answered.

Cheers

Mowgly82,

If JobCapture is perfect except for that one feature and within your
price range, you might want to consider using it.

I looked at their website and, according to the feature list, they can
export all data. This means that you can export the data and pull it
into Excel, which lives to produce Pivot Tables and Charts. That way,
you are using the tools on your system to the best of their abilities.
JobTracker is doing it's job of gathering and storing the information,
while Excel (or whatever) can make use of its excellent summarizing
capabilites. The realy nice part about this is that you are not
limited to whatever charts JobMaster may have predicted you would
want. Once you have your raw data, you can chart it in any way you
want at any time.

What do you think?
