Does anybady know how to recover (unerase, undelete)accidentally erased files in a disk "fdisked" to the FAT 32 system? In a FAT16 system this can be done 3 ways: through Norton's unerase, through Norton's diskedit changing the "sigma" at the beginning of the file to anther character or via diskedit. Is something similar available in System 32 (Windows 98)? 0 |

in some cases, you may be able to try using a fdisk /mbr, in other cases you may need to use a low level editor and manually change the data in the boot partition of the drive, although this may be beyond tedious.(perhaps when you view the data on the disk using a low-level formatter, you may search for areas of the disk where there are not any "00" or repetitive data, this may signify the beginning of a file system, beyond that, you may need to change the first letter of each file back to its original letter.also, sometimes even after formatting/fdisking a drive, you may be able to run a windows xp disk and access the old root.... |
