I think that really ANY new Mac available in apple's online store will work for you. You'll have to buy the newest Mac version of Adobe Photoshop too. The best bet would be to get a tower G5 because you can add in so much RAM. The laptops and minis won't take as much RAM so your image editing would be running from the hard drive much more. For $4800 today you can get a quad-core processor machine with 8 gigabytes of RAM. For $8000 you can double the RAM to 16 GB. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/0.RSLID?mco=F36A2F8A&nclm=PowerMac |

I agree... You would also benefit from a good graphics card with lots of VRAM memory. |

Also keep in mind, that the current Intel Macs run Photoshop more slowly than the G5 towers or the discontinued Powerbooks, iBooks and G5 iMacs. That's because Photoshop has not yet been rewritten to take advantage of the Intel chips. Photoshop will still run on the Intel machines under Rosetta, but with a speed hit. The next version of Photoshop, probably due early next year, will support the Intel chips directly. |
