I have a completely legitimate copy of Windows 2000, but I lost the
license key. It is not installed right now on any system, so I can't
recover it that way (I have found several utilities that do that). Is
there any way to get the key off the disc?

daniel...

If you still have the original packaging for the CD, you may
find it on a sticky label somewhere on the actual case, or
you *might* find it engraved on the outer edge of the CD
itself. It's not contained within the data on the CD itself.

Let me know if this helps...
