Can you tell us whereabouts in the USA you want to ship from, thanks.

We would be shipping from Barnegat, NJ. I listed a direct Germany
address but we also have an APO address. We have been told that the
weight limits for the USPS seem to preclude us from using the APO
address. Thanks...

Hello debitrum-ga:

Both Fed Ex and UPS will ship to Germany, according to their web
pages. Is this furniture in somewhat flat boxes, to be assembled?
There are some size restrictions. Fed Ex has airport to airport
service, which might be an option if they cannot make delivery
directly to the military base - Is your daughter living on base or
off? If off, that should be no problem, I assume. I would suggest you
make some phone calls to your local Fed Ex and UPS offices and give
them dimensions of the boxes with weights and they can give you
estimates of cost and delivery times. It might be more costly to ship
than to buy new furniture in Germany, however.

There are options more suitable then UPS and Fedex for furniture.

We just shipped furniture from CA to CR (which is next to Germany)
using a
container (8 * 8 *20 feet) , door to door, for less then $3000 (when
you
pack it yourself). It takes about 6 weeks.

You may want to look at websites such as
http://www.freightcenter.com/freight%20shipping.htm
or check your local yellow pages for International
Shipping Agent.

However, jab is right (unless you have very good, unusual, reason) in
saying: just send money, instead of the goods.

I agree with finding a freight forwarder if you can drive to a major
airport and have someone pick it up at the other end. Just pack it
and call a freight forwarder who has an office at a major airport. I'd
start with United Air Freight or Lufthansa Air Freight if you are near
an airport that they fly to. You might want to look in your yellow
pages or at buyerzone.com to find an air freight company.

Ask to have your good put on a consolidated pallet with other people's
goods - I am assuming they don't take up a whole pallet. Then they'll
get shipped when the pallet is full. The most expensive part is
hiring a trucking firm at each end - so i'd just go to the airport and
deliver it and get your daughter to pick it up at the other end -
signing customs forms as needed.
