If i play windows media files within my IE (now i'm using IE7 beta, but same sympton with IE6), sound comes up alright but video is just plain green. If i uninstall SP2 the problem is solved but still comes up now and then, needing a restart. But with SP2 installed, the video is always green but sound is OK. Best example is the news clips from CNN.COM, i can hear the sound but video is all green. But the standalone media player plays everything fine, no green whatsoever. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Yes - the green indicates a problem with hardware video acceleration. We don't actually know which version of media player is, though we know about your browser - strange ! Initial options should include making sure you have the most recent display card drivers from the manufacturer, as well as DirectX 9.0c (latest release) from this page : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a9b6820-bfbb-4799-9908-d418cdeac197&DisplayLang=en To repair this if updates don't have any effect, open the standalone player, go to the menu Tools -> Options -> Performance -> Advanced You'll need to start by turning of high quality mode in the video acceleration area - possibly setting it to Use Overlays would be enough. If that isn't helping, turning off the video mixing renderer completely will almost certainly remove the green areas, at the expense of a loss of playback performance.
