Question ID: 724801
Was the Embargo Act of 1807 constitutional? Was it actually
"regulating trade" as the constitution allows, or did it go too far in
stopping commerce completely (and was unconstitutional)? Please
provide a summary of the issues involved. More importantly, please
provide books and sites that have more information. I couldn't find
anything on the internet (except on Yahho answers:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ahf8DziXUkRwnXnexJa8KOXsy6IX?qid=1006012807391)
and a Google Book search didn't help so much either. I only found
one book, The Constitutional Thought of Thomas Jefferson (by David N.
Mayer) which had a page on the subject, but I need a lot more sources.
Primary Sources that are on this topic would be excellent.

What more do you need to make for a complete answer to your question?

Your link does not discuss the issue at all. I asked if the Embargo
Act was constitutional and the Wikipedia article doesn't even have the
word "Constitutional" in it!

Sorry...I was concentrating more on the sources of information
provided at that link.

Try this one instead as a pretty primary Primary Source

Thank You, I should be able to use those sources. I still need many
more primary and secondary sources to be able to write a paper on the
topic.
