Hello there, I have a question with regards to the legality of parallel importing textbooks (the softcover versions) into New Zealand and Australia, especially from Asia. I am currently aware of two statutes that cover this matter (the NZ Copyright Act 1994 and the Trademark Act) but they have been amended a few times. Will you be able to advise on the current standing of the above question? |

Won't it depend on the status of the individual books to be imported: whether or not they have been produced under the copywrite? |

The good starting point would be information about Australia New Zealand Closer Economic Relations agreement: http://www.fta.gov.au/default.aspx?FolderID=283&ArticleID=229 |

Hi there, Thanks for the comments. Just want to add a detail- the books does not infringe the copyright act but does any other regulation govern the parallel importing of textbooks? |
