My girlfriend (we've been together for 1.5 years already) is in the US
on an L1B visa which expires in Sept 2006. She is currently going
through the renewal process with her employer. We are considering
both getting married and changing jobs and/or careers. If she renews
through her employer, she may have have to agree to an employment
contract that would inhibit her from changing careers, so it may be in
our best interests not to renew through her work.

What would the impact be on in the following circumstances:

1) Resign her job and marry before her visa is renewed.

1a) What would the process be for getting her green card?
1b) How long would it probably take?
1c) How much would it probably cost?
1d) Would she likely have to leave the country in the process?
1e) Any caveats to beware of?

2) Marry and renew through work (in either order) and resign after
that (and eat any contact penalties associated)

3) Renew through work and apply for a green card through unmarried
channels (we'd get married anyway, but I don't know if it would be
easier to do afterwards or not)
