I have a private website for family & friends in memory of a child I lost. I use to be able to look at the stats page and know how many times it had been visited by people that are important to me. In the last few months, the visit count has been highly excessive and it appears that the two addresses below are responsible. In addition, the site indicates there are visits from the countries listed below. Could you explain what is going on that would account for this? I live in the US and do not know anyone in these countries. It really feels like an invasion of my privacy and it is very disturbing. ns1.hispanoplacesenelaire.com f2.90.5646.static.theplanet.com Qatar Canada Switzerland Germany Taiwan Seychelles |

This might be down to internet search engine bots, on my website http://www.kent-electricians.co.uk, It is aimed at Kent in the UK but I get hits from all over the world due to the search engine bots. Also I have noticed a rise in bots that are looking for emails, they search a page for email addresses and then use them for spam purposes. These may account for some of the rises in stats and some of the countries. |

If your site is only intended for your friends and family then you could tell the search engines not to index your pages. Create a file in notepad called robots.txt The contents of the file should be: User-agent: * Disallow:/ Upload the file to your web server in the root directory. If you have PHP available with your hosting company then you can easily redirect any visitors with an IP Address outside the US to another web page. Or for best security create a member login page, and just give the people you want to give access to a password. If you want a very basic member login system and your hosting company supports PHP then I can provide you with the code to add to your pages, or I can sort it out for you. Let me know through the contact box on the WebConsultancies.com website http://www.webconsultancies.com/contact Mention Google Answers so I remember that I said I'd do it for free Hope this helps |
