Yes, I think I understand, One of my brothers is a talented musician, about 30 years ago he was offered a 'contract'. My father and I laughed at it - possibly after Elton John we were wrong. - but the amazing thing is that they have milked so much money - for years Possibly Google (being past the first post it is safe to use the G word) will get into it - the music publishing game needs sorting out |

Nuclear Weapons, followed closely by spam. But I suppose that means getting rid of email. However, looking at my inbox - let's go for that as well! |

With apologies to my young friend and colleague Boquinha, I move to re-invent bras. Gravity takes its toll on us all, and the bigger they are, the harder they fall. I'd like to un-invent "boom cars." No car stereo should be so loud that it can be heard a block away. |

Bubble packs - and those clear crystaline plastic cases they pack cookies, cakes and pastry in. They are terribly noisy. I think the noise factor is deliberate. Every time I sneak into the kitchen late at night for a snack, the snapping and popping wake up everybody in the house. Perhaps they think it is a diet aid? Cheers Digsalot |

Dresses. They are immodest (providing easy access to the genitals), restrictive (either hampering or interfering with easy movement) and unsafe (what is easiest for an assailant?). |

Without weopons our ancestors would have been eaten by predators. Nuclear fission is a good candidate, but I've a nasty feeling that the A Bomb prevented warfare - just as Gas was stock piled in WWII, but both sides were nervous of using it. Politicians are a good candidate, sadly they would reappear in another form Boom boxes ... legislation required there Spam - well I seem to have sorted that problem - it plagued me for years DDT - I suppose so, I gather it is still widely in use in Africa, they reckon it is less harmful in the short term than Malaria. I would certainly like to reduce packaging - somehow I think that will happen Tobacco - I wish I could give up (lighting a roll up) TV has its plus points - albeit 95% is trash I rather like dresses, and reckon that for some lasses bras are very handy I detest football, but it seems to appeal to some people Of the lot, tobacco could disappear with few negative side effects - hmm.. the American Indian's revenge - never thought of that before |

I second the motions to un-invent cigarettes, spam, itchy labels and boom cars. How about cold calling, shrink wrap, TV soaps, plastic shoes, and pesticides that stay on our food? |

Wow frde.ga! I never knew that 'DDT is still widely in use in Africa [because] they reckon it is less harmful in the short term than Malaria'. I reckon that DDT originally caused AIDS. They used to sprinkle DDT on (underground) water supply pipes before burying them to prevent insects, etc. attacking them. But, of course, pipes get fractured for other reasons allowing DDT into the water supply. Not a good idea. |

@Probono One advantage of being an insomniac is that one picks up all sorts of stuff from the BBC World Service. It seems that they splash out the walls of their huts with DDT. I'm not sure about the origins of AIDS, I suppose it could be a chemically induced mutation. Most likely it is something that has been around a long time, but got a hold because of increased communication (travel). There is a theory that Rome went the same way. @Techtor - excessive taxes are a blood boiler - 'no taxation without representation' ... hmph ... I hardly feel represented |

I agree with Pugwashjw65 about ties. They are useless as male dress. They should be for women. ;) Yes, Frde... I hate to spend taxes for expected public service that doesn't appear at all. And some more things I wish were uninvented... peer pressure and sheep mentality. |
