Earliest Schools -- (Probably District #1)
From the history of York County we find the first school opened in
Waterborough was held in a barn in 1784 and was taught by Samuel
Robinson. Since we know that Waterborough Old Corner was established
first, we assume this school was held in that part of town.
(This article provides details that might be of interest regarding the
school system for the period you?re asking about.)

Mrs. Higgins' Maine Studies Sites
The sole purpose of this page is to provide students who are doing
research with a link to a variety of Maine information sites. Adults
are welcome, too. Link selection is based on serendippity and on my
own and my students' blundering internet searches. Inclusion, beyond
the obvious sites, merely means we found it and it worked for us.
(The Maine History Sites page offers resources by historical periods.
The resources for the Colonial Era and Early 19th Century should be of
special interest.)
