I would like to see a list of activist hedge funds operating in the US
equity markets. Thomas Taylor of Taylor Companies estimated in late
2005 that there are about 90 worldwide today compared to 40 three
years ago.

The list should include the following information for each item:

(1) Name of hedge fund (e.g., "Relational Investors LLC")

(2) Name of principal who runs the fund (e.g., "Ralph V. Whitworth")

(3) Dates and ticker symbols for SEC SC 13D or 13G filings by the
hedge fund in the last 5 years. You may cap the list at 5 tickers each,
but please pick the more important ones if you can discern them.
Please specify the filing form in each case.  (e.g., "5/26/05 13D SOV;
etc")

You can search through SEC filings at edgar-online.com. Sign up for a
free trial of their premium service, Edgar Pro.

*** Bonus $50 for this additional info:

(4) Mark next to each ticker in #3 whether the hedge fund was
successful or unsuccessful at effecting its proposed reforms. (e.g.,
use * for successful and # for unsuccessful.)

*** AND, a time bonus:

Extra tip for each day remaining in the 30day period when the question
is answered to my satisfaction. If you answer 1-3, the rate is
$1/day. If you answer 1-4, the rate is $1.66/day for a maximum total
tip of $100.

Thanks!

plum209-ga,

If I may make a suggestion...

The first challenge for a researcher would be finding as many of the
funds as possible. Perhaps we can find 90...or perhaps only 9.

Why not post this as your first question? Then once you have the
list, you can post a follow up question requesting the additional
details for the list.

I suspect you have a much better chance of getting an answer by
splitting up the research task in this way.

Just my two cents...
