As I suspect you know, her movies are available on eBay, but not in subtitled versions. I contacted the sales support at a Canadian website (www.greekcity.com) that carries movies featuring Aliki Vougiouklaki, and asked if any their versions have subtitles. They responded in the negative. Since they seem to be a major supplier in North America of Greek films old and new, the prospects here may not be too promising. I did find on imbd.com a posted "user comment" for Ipolohagos Natassa saying that an English-subtitled version is available. However, the person posting was from Athens, not North America. Another user comment for a different title lamented the unavailability of televised, subtitled versions of her films even in the UK. It's possible, I suspect, that subtitled versions were released in theatres or for broadcast at some point in areas outside North America where there was a wider market for her films, but those versions never made it to video/dvd and are languishing on a shelf somewhere. I hope someone else can come up with a source for you. |

If you are interested in a Greek-only version of Madalena that is compatible with North American dvd players, you can check the URL below. This is page from the website I mentioned in my first response below, greekcity.com. They list three Aliki films, one of which is titled Mantalena. However, after much searching, I cannot find any movie she did by that title. Since the date, the costars, and the plot they give all seem to match the date, costars, and plot descriptions I've seen of Madalena, one of the movies you want, I think they may have mistitled the movie. If a North American unsubtitled version will suit you, this lead may be worth checking out. They have a couple other of her movies on dvd as well. http://www.greekcity.com/music/music3cat.taf?_function=detail&gcvvideo_uid1=2145891804&gcvvideo_uid2=MANTALENA%20%2DDVD%20zone%201 |
