Generally, I am trying to understand the competitive position of
Israeli plastic injection molders vs US and Chinese companies,
specifically related to tool boxes. More specific questions are
listed below.
This is what I (think I) know, correct me if wrong:
Zag and Keter appear to be the largest tool box injection molders in
Israel that imports to the U.S. The Israeli government 'subsidizes'
the high tech industry. Plastics is classified as a high tech.
* What are the specifics around the Israeli government subsidy? How
do I quantify its effect on the cost of a tool box. For example, does
the company receive a credit for the amount spent on tools? If so, is
it the entire tool cost, or something else. Maybe its just R&D spend?
Or maybe a general tax break.
* What are the import duties for plastic tool boxes from Israel to the U.S.?
* Does the U.S. government have a position on the Israeli government
subsidy of the high tech industry?
* How are these products shipped to the U.S. considering the large
amount of "air" that is shipped. Tool boxes that do not nest, occupy
a lot of space ona container, especially considering the value of the
tool box. Perhaps these companies have agreements with other
companies that ship very heavy products which weigh out the container
before cubing out. If so, the tool boxes essentially ride for free,
or at a much lower rate depending on the arrangement between the
companies ... just an unproven hypothesis.
* Who are other large plastic injection molders in Israel and where
are they located?
* Is there a hub (a region, a city) of plastic injection molding
activity in Israel? If so, where is it?
* What are the revenues of Zag and Keter (may be difficult to
ascertain as Zag is part of Stanley and Keter is private).
* Where are Zag's factories located (in Israel, and abroad, if applicable)?
* Where are Keter's factories located (in Israel, and abroad, if applicable)?
* What are Zag's key distribution channels / partners in the US? Same
question for Keter.
* What Israeli company makes Target's private label plastic tool boxes? |
