I am no expert, but here's my two cents:
This is greatly dependent. If someone tried to sell a new nickname to
a city like New York, it would be worthless. I would guess the value
would be dependent on a number of factors:
-that the city needs a nickname (New York doesn't, neither does some
tiny village in Wisconsin)
-that the city is looking to the public for a nickname (and not taking
the normal course of 'hiring a marketing firm')
-that your nickname is good, and they think it has potential to really
increase tourism
-that you present it well
-that they want a nickname! If you are driving home from your job in
Chicago, and think to yourself "hey I think we should rename
Millerville, Illinois should be renamed "The Kickass City"" and you
write a breathless letter to the tourism board about how fabulous it
would be and how much Millerville would benefit, they probably
wouldn't care.
So anywhere from 50 million to nothing. It really depends. Supply and
demand, ya know? |
