I am looking to find out general information about hiring in a few
different states.

Basically what I need is a breakdown of how many people were hired
broken down across states for either 2004 or 2005. It would be even
better if the breakdown could be across type of hire (low-wage,
profesional...), though this is not necessary.

Oddly enough, the data on hires only appears to be available for the
US as a whole and for four main regions -- northeast, south, midwest,
and west.

Would these numbers meet your needs?

Yes and no. It would definitly be helpful as well, but there must be
state or city data. Even if you give me the four regions, plus either
New York, California, Illonios, Texas and Florida...or the four
regions plus New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston,
and Miami.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I didn't see the type of data
you asked for.

General employment data is available at the state level (change in
employment from month to month), but this is different from the number
of actual hires, which only seem to be available regionally. Here's
the latest hiring data:

Perhaps this will be of some use, and maybe lead someone to find more
detailed statistics for you.

All the best,
