I recently moved to a new apartment and I want to create a 3D model of my place for decoration, etc. The software I have tried so far requires a cumbersome process of measuring everything manually and entering colors and textures manually. Is there some more automated solutions using 3D cameras and SW software for the recording of everything (in my rooms? I am not looking for a very expensive professional solutions. My search on Google gives numerous industrial solutions, but I am looking towards something for home use. I am willing to invest i a new 3D camera setup. |

Maybe there aren't any cheap 3d scanning systems for entire rooms. You could look at Photomodeler Pro ($895) at http://www.photomodeler.com/index.html which creates 3d models from a number of digital photos. With your existing software maybe you could use a flatbed scanner for some of the textures (eg. scan a wallpaper sample), or maybe use a digital camera for some textues. |
