To cut down on costly phone contacts, many sites nowadays like to hide their phone numbers on their site (or totally remove the numbers in some cases). This can be frustrating, especially in fraud situations. As stated in this article "...eBay's failure to post its phone number on its site to permit members to alert eBay of irregularities is yet another irresponsible cost-saving mistake...": http://www.infoworld.com/articles/hn/xml/01/10/03/011003hnebay.xml eBay does have actual phone numbers though: 1-800-322-9266 1-888-749-3229 1-877-438-3229 (California only) 1-408-558-7400 Hours 7:30 AM 5:30 PM Pacific Time M-F The initial voice menu: Know Persons Extension press 1 Dial by name Directory press 0 Customer Service press 2 Operator press 3 Above information obtained from: http://www.auctionguild.com/generic17.html I have called the first two numbers and verified that they work. They will allow you to contact eBay's Customer Support department during business hours. Please note that if you hit the option for "Safe Harbor inquiries" that appears on one of the voice menus, you will receive a message simply telling you that all claim-related matters need to be submitted via email. As such, you will probably want to select the general option in order to speak with an actual customer service representative. Alternately, selecting the Operator option from the top menu may put you in touch with someone who can transfer you to the Safe Harbor department (the area that handles fraud and claims). Since you stated you have already submitted a claim, you probably know the location of eBay's Fraud Protection Program area, but here's a handy link to it: http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/fpp.html I hope this information is useful! And I hope your eBay transaction is eventually completed in a satisfying way. If you would like for me to clarify any of my answer please let me know. leep-ga search terms used: ebay phone "safe harbor" ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=ebay+phone+%22safe+harbor%22 |

FYI, all corporations who trade on the stock market AND have a business web site, must make their corporate office phone number available, usually on a page called something like "Investors Information", or something similar. They also have to make the legal address available. About 2 months ago, I was in need of eBay's phone number and couldn't locate it in the conventional ways, so I looked on their investors page, and it was there. I then called and confirmed that it was a 'live' line. |
