Hi,

I'm looking for a pair of extremely comfortable work shoes. I work in
retail as a sales person and I stand for between 7-9 hours daily
for 5 days a week. And by the end of the day, my feet are killing me.

I should mention I'm a heavy person (270 lbs) so I have extended
pressure on my feet.

If you can recommend some comfortable shoes for me, I'll really
appreciate it. As for the price, I'm willing to spend as much as a few
hundred bucks for the shoes if I have to, so price really shouldn't be
the issue in your research... comfort is the real issue. :)

The shoes must have a professional look. I could care less about the
design, as long as they're extremely comfortable and casual looking.
IF the shoes are ONLY available online, that's alright, but if they're
available in retail outlets, please let me know which retail outlet
carry that particular shoe/brand.

Besides buying a comfortable pair of shoes, any other suggestions to
ease my foot pain are welcome.

Thank you for the research!

Hi nytiger,

Some brands you might look for in your area (NY?) are listed below.
Since fit is so individual and personal, I would be really hesitant to
purchase shoes online. If there's a 'comfort footwear' specialty
store in your city/town, you might also get recommendations on some of
their bestsellers. Your podiatrist could also give you suggestions
based on your particular foot problem. Most of the brands listed
below come in men's and women's styles:

Mephisto

Markell

Naot

Finn Comfort

Advance Footwear

If you're in Manhattan:

are carried there)

Pedorthotics/Foot problems

http://www.comfortshoe.com/index.html (left-side column)

I'd be glad to work on your question later with some additional
guidance. Your location? Has your foot problem been diagnosed? Do
you prefer high/low tops/lace-up/slip-ons/color preference/wide sizes,
etc.

If the above suggestions are in the vicinity of your requirements, you
can send a clarification, and I can pursue this further for you.

Best,
V

Hello nytiger-ga,

Are you male or female? Have you done any research on your own to find
suitable soes? What were the results? Have you found any shoes/makes

Dr. Scholl has a "Gel pad" that you put in the shoes, they universally
fit most sizes. I had the same problem but had to stand for more than
12 hours (Medical Center) and instead of buying wool/cotton padded
shoes, I tried a cheap solution. Dr. Scholls gel was extremely
comfortable, I dont have red rash anymore at the end of the day
P.S. Though I am a female, I saw a commercial for dr. scholls gel for males ;)

There are a few good makers. The ones I know best are Clarks, Hush
Puppies and Ecco.
Make sure you buy shoes that have leather upper, lining and sock, and
a thick cushioned sole. And make sure they are the right size and
width fitting.
