I have a tutoring company; I need to know "American University
Academic Year Important dates" to as many as possible.
Important dates like, what date to start the academic year and when to
finish, for winter, summer, and autumn.
Also if I could know the important dates inside the year, that would
be great. (Like midterms, and projects deadline, especially in
computer science and programming departments)

Hello John80,

Below you will find the results of my research for important dates at
the American University.

American University Academic Regulations

?A. The academic year is divided into the fall and spring sessions (of
approximately 15 weeks each) and summer sessions of varying lengths.
Other sessions of varying duration are offered on and off campus.

B. Final examinations, when given, are scheduled into the last week of
the session. Prior to the final examination periods in fall and
spring, two study days are scheduled.

C. The holidays and vacations usually observed by the university are
as follows: Thanksgiving weekend (Thursday, Friday, Saturday);
Christmas and New Year's Day (included in the mid?year break); Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day; Inauguration Day (every four years); Memorial
Day; Independence Day; and Labor Day. Classes continue until 10:40
p.m. before a holiday or a vacation period.

D. The official calendar for each session is published in the Schedule
of Classes for that session.?

I guess an important clarification here is whether the questioner
meant the specific institution named "American University" or whether
he meant universities in the U.S. in general.
