Dear stuebal629,
I have checked those companies, and here are the results of my research.
-- Agis Electronics --
A scam, as evidence shows:
- On their website, they claim that their postal address is "Street
Jln Perdamenta, Gang Parira No 14 , Bogor,1432221,Propinsi Jawa
Tengah, Indonesia". That address is a very clumsy fake because the
postal code 1432221 makes absolutely no sense. Indonesian postal codes
always have 5 digits. And there is no street named Perdamenta anywhere
in the town of Bogor either. A company that provides a fake address is
fraudulent; reputable businesses don't do that.
- The ownership record of their Web domain, "agiselectronics.com",
reveals very odd registration information. Reportedly, the domain has
been registered by one Conor Walls of an entity (unrealistically)
named "desmibelong" in the British town of Deepcar. The listed postal
code, NA S36 2SP, is wrong; the correct code of Deepcar is just S36
2SP. And the alleged telephone number of the British domain owner is 1
077-906-1582. However, that is not a British telephone number. The
country code 1 shows that it is a US number, but the area code 077 is
not assigned to any area in the USA. The entire address is a fake.
Besides that, why would an Indonesian company register their domain
through someone living in Great Britain? That would be unnecessarily
complicated since there are domain registration providers in
Indonesia, too. Actually, this is just what scammers usually do: They
use some fake address they made up or found somewhere to register the
domain for their scam, to avoid being tracked by their victims.
- It is also noteworthy that the domain was registered only very
recently, on 17 March 2006, and will expire already on 17 March 2006.
Scammers usually register such short-lived "disposable" domains which
they will simply abandon once they don't need them any longer. And:
Why would a company that, allegedly, exists since 2000 (that's what
they claim on their website) wait 6 years before registering their
domain? I am convinced that this "company" is not one day older than
their domain.
-- Nike-Fancy --
It is extremely hard to check Chinese companies due to the lack of
data resources. However, I recommend to be very cautious when dealing
with Nike-Fancy since there are certain dubious points:
- They claim that their full company name is "nike-fancy shoes
Co.,Ltd". However, searching for that name does not produce any
results at all; that is very strange for a company that describes
itself as "a leading company that wholesales brand shoes". Shouldn't a
leading company leave more marks on the Web?
- At the bottom of their website, the copyright notice reads
"©Copyright2003 www.nike-fancy.com". However, the "nike-fancy.com"
domain was registered only on 10 January 2006. The copyright date
can't be correct. Obviously, they try to appear older (and thus more
trustworthy) than they actually are.
- On their website, they use photos they have stolen from other
sources. For example, this photo bears clearly visible the word
miamicarconnection":
http://www.nikefancy.com/pic/2006511181223.jpg
That word has absolutely nothing to do with any Chinese wholesale
company. It's the screen name of a US-based Ebay seller who marks most
photos of his items with that word:
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZmiamicarconnection
I do not believe that a reputable company would have to rely on
stealin photos for their online catalog from other sources. This is
most dubious behavior. And it is, frankly, very dumb to do it in such
a clumsy way.
I recommend to think twice before dealing with Nike-Fancy.
-- Rista Store --
Rista Store can't be trusted:
- No company of that name is listed in the Indonesian Ministry of
Industry's companies register. Since they claim to be a "PT" (their
legal form, Perseroan Terbatas which equals a Limited Liability
Company), they would have to show up in the register. But they don't.
- Their self-description ( http://www.ristastore.net/about_us.html )
is not their own - they simply copied it, with minor changes, from
this company: http://ausielindo.com/ . Note that the latter is also
just a scam company, as I showed at an earlier occasion:
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=437671
But that's not all. That company profile, even with the same typos and
mistakes, has seen use before, as Google's cache of a now-defunct
website (doubtlessly another scam) shows:
http://66.249.93.104/search?q=cache:oHMMhaGIeI8J:https://secure.widetronics.com/about.php
I get the impression that this "company profile" is being recycled
again and again by scammers. And they certainly did not take it from
Rista Store - the Rista Store domain "ristastore.net" was registered
on 1 March 2006 only, and I have no reason to believe that this
"company" is one single day older than that.
- The domain will expire after only one year, on 1 March 2007. Another
example for a "disposable" domain scammers prefer.
- They have stolen their logo (
http://www.ristastore.net/images/rs_logo1.gif ) from the website of
Recreational Solutions, a US-based company:
http://www.recsolutions.com/evalrequest.htm
All that is not the behavior of a reputable company. I recommend not to trust them.
I hope this answers your questions!
Regards,
Scriptor
