Does the State of Michigan provide any protection for individuals in
Student Group Health Insurance programs, such that if the health care
provider picks up the indivudual after a short period during which
coverage has lapsed, the insurer cannot claim protections such as
"pre-existing conditions" by characterizing reinstatement as a new
policy? And, what is the period of protection for insured persons
between lapse and reinstatement?
