Senario: Ideal tool would allow for input of multiple main site
addresses, or subfolders thereof, and then search solely on these
sites. Basically, it would do the same search in ONE click that would
equal visting each site and doing a search "Current Site" in Google.
Doesn't seem that difficult, but I have not found anything on point. Thanks. |

tempy-ga,
Actually, the comment below makes a good suggestion, albeit a bit cryptically.
Gigablast's advanced search feature is here:
http://www.gigablast.com/adv.html
and has a box at page bottom where you can enter a list of sites you
want to restrict the searching to.
Give it a try, and let me know if it suits your needs.

When you say "the comment below makes a good suggestion" to what are
you referring? I tried the Gigablast, but find that the results are
very spotty. It is in the right direction - it just doesn't seem to
work.

If you don't like Gigablast's results, you can just stick with Google.
To restrict a search on, say, [ hurrican katrina ] to a few select
sites, just enter a search string like this:
hurricane katrina site:url-1 OR site:url-2 OR siteurl-3 ...etc
The 'OR' should always be capitalized.
Just put your desired site addresses in place of url-1, etc, and
you're off and running. Here's an example:
Searching on:
hurricane katrina site:nytimes.com OR site:washingtonpost.com OR
site:whitehouse.gov OR site:redcross.org
gets you these results:
://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-04,GGLD:en&q=hurricane+katrina+site%3Anytimes%2Ecom+OR+site%3Awashingtonpost%2Ecom+OR+site%3Awhitehouse%2Egov+OR+site%3Aredcross%2Eorg
Let me know how that works out.

1) Would your suggestion for Google work for, say, 100+ sites? Where
does one enter the sites list?
2) The Gigablast really LOOKS like it was designed to do as I would
like, because it would take a long list, but just doesn't perform. Is
there another product that would perform for long lists?
thanks
